
Friday night in Philadelphia, David Wright homered in his first at bat in 7 weeks…as the Mets go on to beat the Phillies 6-4. In the first inning the Mets took a 3-nothing lead. Eric Young Jr. lead the game off with a double off losing pitcher Cole Hamels, Daniel Murphy, who had a big game, came through with an rbi single and it was 1-zip. Then Wright crushed the first pitch he saw in 7 weeks over the right field wall, #17 on the year and the Mets were off and running. The Met lead grew to 5-0. In the third Andrew Brown added an rbi single and in the 4
th Young added an rbi single himself. Daisuke Matsuzaka started…and had things well in hand until 4
th when the Phils scored 4 times (2 runs were unearned due to an error by Young) Darin Ruf had the big hit, a 2 run double and it was 5-4 Mets. The Mets added an insurance run in the top of the 7
th on a rbi fielder’s choice by Josh Satin. Dice K gets the win. He improves to 2-3. He went 6 innings, allowed 4 hits, 4 runs (only 2 earned) he walked 3 and struck out 6. Lowering his era to a more human looking 5.52. Scott Atchison, Vic Black, Pedro Feliciano and LaTroy Hawkins finished up. Hawkins notched his 10
th save. Murphy went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored, his 20
th stolen base and an rbi. David Wright and Eric Young each had 2 hits apiece. With the win the Mets notch win #69 against 84 losses. Their road record nears .500 at 37-39. Saturday is game 2 of the series. Dillon Gee (11-10 3.47) makes his 2
nd attempt at win #12. Tyler Cloyd (2-5 5.06) goes for Philly.
