
Wednesday afternoon at the Great American Ballpark, Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched well for the third straight outing as the Mets beat the Reds 1-0. The Mets scored their first (and only) run in the top of the 3
rd inning. Wilfredo Tovar hit by a pitch and was sacrificed to 2
nd and Eric Young Jr. brought him home with an rbi single. Mat Latos was named the starter last minute, undoubtedly setting up the Reds bullpen for a playoff run. Latos gave up one run in 7 innings pitched , allowing just 3 hits he walked 2 and struck out 6. Dice K was more than just a tad better. Matsuzaka was brilliant. He went 7 2/3 he allowed 4 hits no runs he walked 2 and struck out 6. He gets the win evening his record at 3-3. His era drops to 4.42. Pedro Feliciano pitched out of a jam in the 8
th, LaTroy Hawkins pitched the 9
th for his 13
th save and #101 of his career. Latos takes the hard luck loss. He’s now 14-7. With the win the Mets finish with a 5-1 mark on their last road trip, they finish at 41-40 on the road and go back home to Citi Field with a 73-85 mark needing to win two games to surpass last years won/loss mark. Thursday night the Mets are back home for the last 4 games of the season against the Milwaukee Brewers. Dillon Gee (12-10 3.53) looks for this 13
th win. Johnny Hellweg (1-4 7.43) goes for the Brewers.
