-Just
to keep everybody in the loop regarding the quality pitching that will be
coming out of this system, here is your projected 2014 rotation and who ‘graduates’
either from TJS surgery or through the normal elevation process from
affiliates:
2014
– Zack Wheeler, Jon Niese, Dillon Gee, Bartolo Colon, Jenrry Mejia, John
Lannan, Daisuke Matsuzaka
2015
– Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard, Rafael Montero, Jacob deGrom, Jeremy Hefner
2016 – Darin Gorski, Rainy Lara, Matt
Bowman, Hansel Robles
2017 – Steven Matz, Michael Fulmer,
Gabriel Ynoa, Luis Mateo
2018
– Chris Flexen, Robert Whelan, Robert Gsellman, Miller Diaz, John Gant
2019 – Jose Medina, Marcos Molina
-Other
projected ‘prospect’ graduations:
2014 – RF Cesar Puello, UT Eric Campbell
2015
– RP Jeff Walters, RP Adam Kolarek, RP John Church, 2B Danny Muno, C Kevin Plawecki,
OF Dustin Lawley, OF Cory Vaughn
2016 – RP Hamilton Bennett, RP T.J.
Chism, OF Brandon Nimmo
2017
– RP John Magliozzi, RP Beck Wheeler,1B Jayce Boyd, 2B L.J. Mazzilli, SS Amed
Rosario
2018
– RP Akeel Morris, 1B Dominic Smith, 2B Dilson Herrera, SS Cecchini, 3B Pedro Perez, OF Wuilmer Beccera
2019
– SS Luis Guillorme, 3B Jhoan Urena, C Ali Sancez, OF Ricardo Cespedes, OF
Oswald Caraballo
It’s
impossible to project which one of these players will be ‘da bomb’, but my
educated guess on who will excel as a New York Met, and beginning when, are:
2014 – SP Zack Wheeler, 3B David Wright,
C Travis d’Arnaud, RP Jenrry Mejia, RP Bobby Parnell, RP Jeurys Familia and LF
Curtis Granderson are long term keepers.
2015 – SP Matt Harvey, SP Noah
Syndergaard, SP Rafael Montero, RF Cesar Puello
2016 – CF Brandon Nimmo
2017 – LHSP Steven Matz, SS Amed Rosario
2018 – 1B Dominic Smith, 2B Dilson
Herrera
(note…
many of these players could be placed on a faster track than this, but, when it
comes to the Mets, I’ll believe it when I see it)
This
only represents 16 players, but it does project a complete starting 2018 lineup
on the field (OF – Grandy, Puello, Nimmo… IF: Smith, Herrera, Rosario, Wright) plus
four starters and three relief pitchers.

Does a 'healthy' Matz have chance for an earlier call up, in your mind.
No, Ernest.
He lost almost three years.
He also was on a strict pitch count last year in Savannah which I don't expect to change in St. Lucie.
That being said, he will end the season in Binghamton and will be ready to replace Jon Niese OD 2017. You may also see him after the 2016 all-star game if someone goes down
