I'm pretty sure this locks in John Lannan for a 25 man roster spot.

Too early for a decision on 1B. If he doesn't pick it up though he'll get cut before ST is over.

Matz is going to be knocking on Vegas' door by season's end and will see the Citi by September '15.

Adam - I'm sure Frank Viola would like that, but the Mets are going to take their time with Matz. He basically lost three seasons and the last thing you want to do is over-pitch that arm. He was held back innings wise in Savannah last year and I think you will see the same thing this season, first in St. Lucie, and then ending in Binghamton (when it warms up).

Agreed....AA is as far as he'll go this season if he stays healthy.

He's going to be Jon Niese's replacement

Not so sure...what if he completely dominates A and AA, as his early pitching this year suggests is a possibility...he could move faster. A la DeGrom.

@Tom

Degrom is the exception...not the rule.

Plus the team has so much more invested in Matz then they do DeGrom so they're more inclined to take their time with him. He'll be lucky if the club allows him to pitch more than 130 innings.

Hey Chris

Matz threw 120 innings last year, including playoffs (13 innings, 4 hits, 17 Ks). So my guess is 150 this year for him.

I didn't factor in playoff innings.....130 IP during reg season and if Binghamton makes playoffs an additional 12 is likely so yea I can see 150 being a possibility.

Lets agree to split the difference and say 140 :)
