Binghamton 12 - Harrisburg 6

Jayce Boyd collected four RBI, including three on a tie-breaking home run in the fifth inning, to lead the Binghamton Mets past the Harrisburg Senators, 12-6, on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets set season-highs with a dozen runs scored and 13 hits.
Despite the lopsided final, Harrisburg jumped on the board immediately. Michael Taylor launched Darin Gorski’s first pitch of the game beyond the left-field wall. His seventh homer of the season gave the Senators an early 1-0 lead.

Gorski helped his own cause and pushed the B-Mets into the lead in the second. Kevin Plawecki started the rally with a single to center. Dustin Lawley worked out a walk and Wilfredo Tovar earned a two-out free pass to load the bases. Gorski jumped on Blake Schwartz’s first pitch and dumped it into shallow left-center. The single, his first hit since July 9, 2012, plated two and gave Binghamton a 2-1 advantage.

The Senators answered back with another blast in the fifth. Ricky Hague led off the frame by ripping his second home run of the season over the left-field fence. It was the second time this season Gorski has allowed multiple home runs.

Binghamton responded with firepower of their own to break the tie in the fifth. Gorski started the inning by lining a double to left. Schwartz issued a two-out walk to Matt Reynolds, opening the door for Binghamton. Boyd lined Schwartz’s payoff pitch just over the left-field wall for his second home run in three days. Travis Taijeron tacked onto the lead with a solo shot off reliever Brian Dupra in the sixth.

The Senators clawed back with two in the seventh against John Church. Taylor tripled home a run and Caleb Ramsey bunted another across the plate to cut Binghamton’s lead to two.
The B-Mets responded with two of their own off Dupra in the bottom of the seventh. Matt Reynolds supplied an RBI single after Darrell Ceciliani and Brian Burgamy opened the inning with hits. Kevin Plawecki made it an 8-4 game with a sacrifice fly.

Binghamton put the game out of reach by hanging a four-spot in the eight. The home team sent eight men to the plate and pounded out five hits in the inning, highlighted by an RBI triple from Reynolds and a run-scoring double from Boyd.

Chasen Bradford allowed a run in the ninth before sealing Binghamton’s second straight win.
Gorski (3-1) allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out seven over six innings to pick up his second victory in as many starts. Schwartz (0-6) was tagged for five runs on four hits over five innings in the defeat.

The B-Mets (16-14) continue their four-game series against the Senators on Friday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Matt Bowman takes the hill against RHP Brad Meyers. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show begins at 6:50 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
