Tuesday night, the Mets got 3 run homers by Curtis
Granderson and Daniel Murphy and David Wright went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI as the
Mets beat the Yankees 12-7. The Mets sweep their 2 games at Yankee stadium and
have now won 6 straight from their crosstown rivals. Both starters, Zach
Wheeler and Vidal Nuno both got hit hard and were gone by the 5th
inning. The Mets took a 4 nothing lead in the top of the 1st. Wright connected for an RBI single to make it
1-0, then Curtis Granderson hit his 5th homer on the year and 2nd
in 2 nights to give the Mets the early lead. The Mets scored a run in the 3rd,
2 in the 4th and 4 in the 5th to take command of the
game. Lucas Duda hit an opposite field
RBI double in the 8th notching the Mets 12th and final
run. The Yanks scored a run in the bottom of the 9th off Jeurys
Familia to cap the scoring. The
combination of Murphy, Wright and Granderson went a combined 6 for 11 with 2
homers and 9 RBI. David Wright extended his hitting streak to 11 straight games.
Eric Young Jr. continues to be a
sparkplug going 0 for 3 but scored 3 runs. Daisuke Matsuzaka relieved Wheeler and
pitched 3 2/3 innings relief allowing just 1 run gets the win he’s now
1-0. Nuno takes the loss he’s 1-1. The
Mets now stand at 19-19 on the year and 10-9 on the road. Wednesday Night it’s
back to Citi Field to continue the subway series Rafael Montero (0-0 0.00) makes his major
league debut for the Mets. Masahiro
Tanaka (5-0 2.57) goes for the Yanks.
