Wilson Ramos hit a pair of doubles and drove in 4 as the Nationals take 2 out of 3 from the Mets over the weekend with a 6-3 win Sunday at Nationals park. The Mets once again got out to the early lead in the top of the 2 nd on a RBI single by Juan Centeno. But that didn’t
last long. The Nats scored 1 in the bottom of the 2nd to tie it. 2
more in the 4th and in the 5th to build a 5-1 lead off
Met starter and loser Zach Wheeler. Wheeler got hit hard again lasting only 6
innings allow 6 hits 5 runs (3 earned) he walked 2 and struck out 5. Jordan
Zimmerman started for Washington and got the win. In the top of the 6th
the Mets pulled to 2 runs down when Centeno and Juan Lagares each had RBI
singles to make it 5-3. The Nats added an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th
off Daisuke Matsuzaka when Wilson Ramos scored when Kevin Frandsen grounded out
into a fielder’s choice that was a wide throw by Daniel Murphy away from being
a double play. Wheeler falls to 1-4 with
the loss; Zimmerman improves to 3-1.
Centeno and David Wright each had a pair of hits for the Mets; Ian
Desmond had two hits including his 7th homer on the year. The Mets
now fall to 20-23 on the season and 11-11 on the road. Monday is an off day, Tuesday night the
Dodgers come to town. Josh Beckett (1-1
2.38) goes for the Dodgers, Rafael Montero (0-1
4.50) goes for the Mets.
