I was one of the few people in NY, it seems, who was unhappy that the Mets didn't re-sign Marlon Byrd. Seemed like a smart option for a team looking for a short to intermediate term OF solution while waiting on some young guys to prove themselves ready. I thought he played his heart out for us last year, and played well both offensively and defensively. I'd take him - at his salary - right now over either Young or Granderson.
Not sure what the story is with Duda, or how long he'll be out, but I'm not expecting the Josh Satin experiment to survive another 0 for 5. Thin air or not, there are just too many guys who can play 1B hitting .300+ out in Vegas.
