The ‘Mack
May Plan’
For what
it’s worth, I would like to see the Mets address three changes in May.
1. Change SS from Tejada/Q to Flores/Tejada
2. Determine permanent role of Jenrry Mejia
3. Begin youth movement in pen
Number
one looks like it began last night.
Number
two is being determined as I write. Mejia has never been more than a five
inning starter so why do members of the Mets coaching staff
think he can start
doing it now? He’s the perfect 8th or 9th inning reliever
and the quicker the Mets do it, the earlier they can start to solve their
back-end pen problems.
(as for
what you do here, feel free to return Dice-K for
the month of May to see if he can bring back the magic, but you’re still going
to have to pick between Rafael Montero and Jacob deGrom come June.)
I’d also like to see Vic
Black back by the end of next week. He hasn’t walked a soul in his last
four outings and he’s part of the long range plan.
One reliever has to go and, since both Mejia
and Black are going to go to the back of the pen, it’s time to release Jose
Valverde.
To review…
To AAA:
Quintanilla and Valverde
To Mets:
Flores and Black
To Rotation:
Dice-K
To pen:
Black and Mejia
That’s my May plan.
More to come in June.
