6/5/14

Picks #5-#7

Number 5 pick Nick Gordon's arm is so good, he could be a pitcher at the next level. His future is as a shortstop, though, as the Twins get the best position prospect in the draft.

#1-4 note: Schwarber to the Cubs could push Newcomb to the Mets, or possibly Zimmer. Maybe both. That was an outside-the-top-10 talent who just went in the top 10...pushing better talent to the Mets at 10. Very good for us.

5- Minnesota Twins- SS Nick Gordon- Florida HS

This is the right pick here. I love Alex Jackson's bat but Gordon is the best position player in the draft and the Twins get one heck of a player and a guy I wish had not climbed draft charts late as I wanted the Mets to grab him.

6- Seattle Mariners- C/OF Alex Jackson

I went off the map from the consensus mocks and had the Mariners reaching a couple picks for Aaron Nola. I figured they wanted pitching. I missed here and the Mariners get the best player on the board.

7- Philadelphia Phillies- RHP Aaron Nola- LSU

I have a source confirm that the Phillies will draft Aaron Nola. You heard it here first. Phillies get a very good RHP and one who will be quick to the bigs.
