John From Albany - Join the flock!

The Mets have been a lot of fun to watch lately but there is another team in NY that is playing very exciting and winning baseball, the Brooklyn Cyclones!  The Mets have been doing it with power and pitching.  The Cyclones have been doing it with pitching and speed.

In 50 games, the Cyclones have stolen 61 bases.  What’s more they are very aggressive on the bases.  They take the extra base, take advantage of other teams shifting and have been pitching great.  Two weeks ago, they stole 4 bases in the first inning!  Jake Mangum has 10 steals and Wilmer Reyes (.336 Batting Average) has 8 steals but the stolen bases has been a total team effort with 20 different Cyclone players this year with at least one steal.

The pitching has been led by Garrison Bryant (drafted in the 36th round in 2016), 3-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 9 starts and 54 innings pitched.  Also, Matt Cleveland (drafted in the 12th round in 2016) 3-2 with a 3.24 ERA in 10 starts and 50 innings pitched.  Overall the staff is pitching to a 3.03 ERA.

Perhaps new coach Endy Chavez is making a big difference or perhaps the organization may be finally valuing the manufacture of runs.  Not sure if any of these players will make it to the show.  It doesn’t matter.  The 2019 Brooklyn Cyclones are a fun team to watch and follow.

Join the flock!

We aren't used to much talent in Brooklyn.

Back in the 2005-2010 period, Jeff used to make Omar and Sandy rob the best talent in Savannah and have they play his 'favorite Met team' in Brooklyn.

My favorites are Holderman, Colon, Genord, Reyes,Romero, and the future mLB leader in steals... Magnum

Love Reyes, Romero and Magnum. After a torrid start, Genord has been struggling. They are throwing nothing but off speed at him. Hope he makes the adjustment. He has a very quick bat and tremendous power.

All of that speed can rattle an opposing pitcher which can cause bad pick off throws etc
