Saturday,
August 3rd –
The Mets
claimed 28-year old LHRP, Donnie Hart from Milwaukee and assigned him to
AAA-Syracuse.
Hart
was a 27th round pick in 2013 by the Orioles. He was a career
relieve for three seasons at Texas State. He pitched six seasons for different
Baltimore affiliates, including a 22-app, 0.49 season for the parent club in
2016.
His
time ran out at the end of last season for Baltimore and pitched this year for
both the AAA affiliate and parent club of the Brewers.
So
far this year for the parent club: 4-G, 6.2-IP, 0.00, 1.20.
My
spin: Can’t hurt.
Kudos –
AAA-Syracuse
– 3B Arismendy Alcantatra: 2-5. R, triple, RBI, .303
Reese
suggested this kid would be a good Mets bench warmer for the remainder of the
year in Queens instead of the guys we have there now.
Switch
hitter… plays both in the outfield and infield… and is hitting .300+ currently.
Worth a look see?
AA-Binghamton
– RP Stephen Villines: 1-IP, 0-R, K, 1.11
A+ St. Lucie – RP Marcel Renteria:
2-IP, 0-R, 3-K
Low-A
Brooklyn – RP Nelson Leon: 2-IP, 0-K, 4-K, 0.82
Rookie-Kingsport
– LF Anthony Dirocie: 3-6, RBI, .600
First
game since being demoted from Low-A Brooklyn
DSL-1
- RP Edward Sosa: 4-IP, 0-R, 0-K
DSL-2
– SP Ronny Rincones: 8th start,
5-IP, 0-R, 7-K, 1.55
The
Mets gave up 16 runs in this game, but none thrown in the first five innings
from this converted reliever.

Stroman is the first No. 7 to pitch for the Mets since Jose Reyes.

Hart was just called up to the Mets.
Jose Reyes may have worn # 7, but his last two seasons, he played like # 2,
Happy Stroman is here. He looks like a battler.
I do not know why we dumped Vargas, as I would much prefer to see him out of the pen that a Donnie Hart. $$$, I guess.
Blake Taylor pitching great in A and AA this year - I wonder when they get him to AAA. He possibly could help as a Sept call up.
Justin Dunn allowed 5 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks in his last AA outing - is he really to become MLB caliber? Blake may be better than Dunn.
Swap Alcantatra for Altherr on the 40? Sure, why not.
And BTW never let any Met enter the HR Derby again...ever.
Alcantara has speed, too.
