3.3 WAR as a Met

Mack – I like Mike Cameron. Sure, he wasn’t with us for long
and a good time that he was here was spent on the disabled list after colliding
with Carlos Beltran on that sickening collision
in the outfield, but he and Beltran made a lethal combination and helped turn
this team around. The year before he arrived (2003), the Mets won 66 games. The
year he left (end of 2005), we won 83 games. That’s progress in my books.
It is no coincidence that his dominance in 2004 started this
progress forward, even though 2004 was the only year he played that his team
had less than 80 wins.
2005 featured David Wright, JoseReyes, Carlos Beltran, Cliff Floyd, and MikePiazza, but Cameron was an intricate part of this team rebound.
In my opinion, you can’t have an all-time Mets list without
all six of these guys on the list.

Cameron was a solid outfielder and a meh contributor with the bat. He did have some good speed which help buttress his value overall. Top 50? Wow...I don't know how bad we have been if he's made this list.
RA Dickey for his Mets production long before Cameron Diaz, IMO.
He had the one good season. Might have been more except for his close encounter with our almost manager one day.

Lists like this can be very personal and people have their favorites that they naturally complain about when they are not included or not ranked high enough.
In spite of all the complaints about our team, the Mets have had a number of great players and great seasons over the years. And we love to love them when they are good and moan when they are bad.
