Have a great weekend and Let's Go Mets!

I was at that Anderson game, which included Cliff Floyd's walkoff homer. One of the best regular season games I've ever seen. We tied it, spectacularly, in the bottom of the 9th, coughed up the lead in the 10th, and won it, spectacularly again, in the 10th.

We were going into extras and I was with my two boys. The youngest was 6 and fighting exhausting. There may have been a rain delay that night, too, that postponed the start (as I recall). I was willing to leave, it had been a long day and he was still a little boy, but the kid hung in there and we saw a memorable finish.

The Mets pitchers that day: Benson, Heilman, Looper.

Jimmy,

I agree. One of the best Mets games ever. Pickups like Marlon Anderson were so often overlooked but can make a big impact on the season. This year it seems like we have a team of Marlon Andersons. Hope the magic doesn't soon run out.

I disagree with Mets management's decision to keep both Lucchesi and Peterson at the current MLB level. Here's why.

I realize that with some key Mets starters having been out hurt so much already this season, some longer term than others, that the NY Mets were pressing to find adequate starting pitchers to man the workload. But both Joey Lucchesi and David Peterson have really struggled thus far. By running them out there without sufficient corrections being made first, it makes little sense to me and costs the NY Mets an opportunity to pad their lead in first place, which they need to do for once.

But the team is shallow down at AAA in starting pitching, and the solution for at least a temporary stint callup really doesn't exist there right now besides maybe Jerad Eickhoff or Sean Reid Foley.

So what they may need to actually do here now, is make a trade for another team's starter. I suggested yesterday perhaps someone like a lefthanded Red Sox' Darwinzon Hernandez.

Darwinzon is young and still somewhat a work in progress. But he throws in a 3/4 arm slot and has a fastball that can touch 97 mph, which is very unusual for a lefty. His curveball is 1 to 7 but his change-up third pitch may admittedly still need some work reports say.

The Mets AAA system doesn't have enough good starters. It can barely win games. They have relievers overall, like Stephen Nogosek and others. Adding in a starter like a Darwinzon Hernandez, may make good sense for this Mets team. Then have someone (like I mentioned yesterday) ex-Met Bartolo Colon as a special assignment instructor, may also make more good sense. Then Bartolo could work with Peterson, Lucchesi, Hernandez, and Kilome to try to get all four up and running for the important second half of this 2021 season.

The Mets have had this "unacceptable attitude" about trying to "make do" with what is on the current roster since there were "rumble seats" really. But it never worked out once that I can recall, and the price was always a playoff spot each time.

It's time to get smarter!

To me, I equate this type of Mets thinking to the recently ousted NY Knicks thinking heading into their very short playoff round. You have to have a big man center upfront (Nicola Jokic type) a widebody who can actually score over eight points a game, to take the load off an obvious double teamed candidate PF in Julius Randle. It's fundamental thinking really. The NYK coach and GM failed on this very obvious point miserably. Once again.

According To The Great No.17 Mets' Gazoo, All Cat's Matinee Idol

David Peterson's success challenge has been due to the fact that he has dropped his armslot lower and is no longer coming over the top like he had been doing when doing really well. The Gazoo then went on to say that this lower armslot effects both his fastball and slider movement down and that it is a rather simple adjustment.
