Tim
Healey Newsday: Bullpen implosion dooms Mets in loss to Padres. “Without
Edwin Diaz (rest), Seth Lugo (rest), Aaron Loup (rest) and Miguel Castro (tight
neck), the Mets were shorthanded in the bullpen. Without Jonathan Villar
(family matter) and Billy McKinney (sore right knee), they were shorthanded on
the bench.”
Mets.com:
Mets' bullpen gamble on Familia falls flat. Walks hurt relievers; Barnes
allows go-ahead slam to Tatis.
Brian Joura Mets360: “The answer will be
that they don’t like Lucchesi facing a lineup the third time…It’s a tone-deaf
move…Removing Lucchesi before he faces a lineup a third time might be the
correct move eight times out of 10. But this was not one of the eight.” (Subscription

Joey Lucchesi owns a 1.56 ERA over his last four starts, but the Mets have not allowed him to face any batter more than twice in a game all season.

No surprise here given how taxed the Mets' bullpen is, but a source says Sean Reid-Foley has been asked to meet the Mets in Queens. Assuming he is activated, he can give the Mets a fresh arm for the Cubs series beginning tomorrow.

Reid-Foley: 1.98 ERA in the Majors this season.

Barnes pitched like the excrement of a certain animal found in a barn. I hope he was sent to a Syracuse barn.
Yes, Joey should be allowed to go 6 - everyone else is allowed.
Familia needs to know when to nibble and know when to challenge. He needed to switch from nibbling to challenging when the Profar count got to 2-2. Walks are anathema there.
Who knew in mid May that we'd be saying yesterday, "boy, did we miss Billy McKinney!"
Jose Peraza has 4 HRs, just like Dom Smith. Good for him, bad for Dom. Jose has been a big Jelp to this team.
Villar better watch it, or Nido will steal 3B from him.
