Walker Dominates, Carpio’s 3 RBI Lead Ponies Past Baysox
BINGHAMTON, NY – Rumble Ponies RHP Josh Walker allowed only three hits over seven innings and Luis Carpio broke the game open with a bases-clearing double in the sixth as the Ponies rolled past the Bowie Baysox 9-1 on Wednesday night at Mirabito Stadium.
Walker (2-0) went a season-high seven innings, allowing three hits, one run, and one walk while striking out eight. After striking out the first 10 batters he faced, Walker was supported by his offense who scored two in the fourth and then four in the sixth. In the latter frame, Wagner Lagrange hit an RBI single that gave the Ponies a 3-1 lead. Binghamton (10-21) would go on to load the bases and with two out Luis Carpio drilled a 3-run double to deep left that gave the Ponies a 6-1 advantage.
Carpio finished 2-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored while Lagrange was 2-4 with 2 RBI, as he would also deliver an RBI double in the 7th.
Former Rumble Ponies LHP and Bowie starter Kevin Smith (0-1) allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings with no walks and eight strikeouts but took the loss for the Baysox (22-8).

POSTGAME NOTES: The Ponies scored 7 of their 9 runs against the Baysox bullpen...Carlos Cortes had a multi-hit game going 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI...Yeizo Campos threw two scoreless innings in relief.

I know nothing of Walker, but given his success so far this season after years of mediocrity, along with Szapucki's struggles, is it possible that he leapfrogs Tom to be the first callup when the doubleheaders come later this month?
