What's The Plan, Stan?
So, what the hell just
happened?
Did Cohen/Stearns & Co.
invent a new way to follow my previous recommendation to target this team to
2027?
Yes, the combined 2025
salaries of Alonso, Nimmo, and Soto were already off my worksheet. They
represented a reduction $72,000,000.
What wasn't in the
projection were any plans for both Pete and Edwin to take their skills
elsewhere.
We also need to remember
that we added the 2026 salary of Marcus Semien ($25.000,000).
I also just added Jorge Polanco.
And, there are other
additions:
Injured Player Replacements: $5,544,000
0-3 year players in majors: $6,336.000
0-3 year players in minors: $2,669,800
Pre-ARB bonus pool: $1,666,667
Estimated player benefits: $18,000,000
Oh well.

Good Morning Mack,
The Mets are still trying to trade McNeil/Senga. Do you think that if Semien is playing well and the Mets are not going anywhere in 2026 that he will be on the trading block?.
I don't
I think he is the DEFENSE FIRST second baseman for at least two seasons
Morning Mack,
Do you think the Mets will have a fire sale at the trading deadline if they are below 500?
Now the 2028 salaries. That's the year the tax will be reset.
Definitely
See them spending close to last year, definitely over $300M this year. Can’t see them totally resetting but can see them get below the draft penalty threshold by 27 (but new agreement could change this projection)
Amen…
You try to defend Stearns and then he pulls one of these.
Good luck tomorrow Mack!
Gus, Mack will come back throwing 101 on the black. He's got this.
Stearns may be trying to reset below the luxury tax level in a year or two, if the young prospects prove to be more than mediocre. We need a bunch of McLeans.
Yea, good luck tomorrow. Prayers for you.
Thanks guys.
I am sure he will. Sometimes I wish he eased off the velocity a bit, LOL!
As for Stearns, I would love for him to be successful. We have seen steps and if last year’s trading deadline wasn’t such a faceplant, I believe he would get more rope. What is good to hear is that Tong, Sprout, Benge, and McLean are all off limits. On one hand, that may be posturing. But on the other hand, he has enough assets to use. Vientos, McNeil, , Mauricio (man, I’d love to see this guy hit his ceiling for the Mets), and Acuna are all available and certainly have some value. And, there are still quite a few free agents waiting by their phones.
Mack,
Can you share any background on Ian Levin and Tommy Tanous leaving the Mets for the Rockies? Are these executives simply moving up in the Rockies management or a change Mets focus in scouting and team development?
Best of luck on Wednesday, we look forward to more Dirty Laundry.
Mack were all thinking of you
Good Luck Mack...best wishes.
By the way if your gonna blow it then blow it up and trade Lindy who's contract is up in 31' and is 32 years old for the almost 27 year old Tatis who's deal is up in 34' and you then have 2 young superstars to build your team around and of course adding to that deal would work too any thoughts?
