Tom Brennan - Mets’ AAA Opener was…A 3-1 WIN!

Tong Pitched Better Than Freddy Peralta. But What Do I Know?

Jonah Tong was almost terrific.

Adjusted for the frigid weather, he was terrific.

Tong Terrific.

First frigid inning, 2 walks, no Ks.

Last 3 innings, 1 hit, 4 Ks.

Done after 4 rounds and 73 pitches. Then, treated in the clubhouse for hypothermia. J.j.just k.k.kidding.

Joe Jacques with the 9th inning scoreless save.

Morabito? 2 hits and an RBI. Nick!

Mauricio? A hit and a steal.

Rojas? A 2 run jack.

Clifford? A hit … and 2 Ks. In his first at bat, the first two pitches, naturally, were called strikes. Swing, dude. You can’t hit called strikes, trust me.

Senger? 2 hits. And 2 Ks.

The stadium was heated by 17 Ks by opposing pitchers. And just one walk.

But they lost. Our guys prevailed.

The veterans…Melendez, Arroyo, Cluff, and Pache…were colder than the weather, with a combined 0 for 15 and 10 Ks.

Cold..but a heart warming final outcome.

Im Definitely keeping an eye on Austin Warren. Deserves some time in Queens this season to eat some innings and help the big club.

Warren will no doubt get his chance. Good for him.

Just took a walk outside on this sunny Saturday. 27 degree wind chill. Perfect for baseball. I wish the Mets had a domed stadium.

And we get a late afternoon game in March. Makes no sense at all.

Ray, ANY games in March are a crap shoot. It had been cold here for weeks, and then on opening day it was nice, but it’s frigid today. Certainly not baseball weather. I imagine they’ll try to play the game though. Can’t disappoint those ticket holders. Why anybody would buy tickets in advance to March games is beyond me.

Yankees drafted high octane Cam Schlittler 209 slots after the Mets grabbed AA Kevin Parada. He looks like he could be their next great home grown pitcher. How’d the Mets pass on him for 7 rounds?

Nice result to start the season. Did we tell you that cold weather is part of the run prevention strategy?

Taps measure jobs die on the track in cold weather, true.
