DAVID PETERSON
What the heck happens to some guys?
And, especially, in Queens?
David Peterson is one such guy.
After the 2023 season, he needed hip surgery.
He returned a few months into 2024.
He was stellar.
10-3, 2.90 in 2024.
Then, through August 1, 2025, he was 7-4 with an ERA of 2.83.
He was stellar.
Now, anyone can get hot for a short stretch.
But Peterson pitched extremely well for a LONG stretch, from Memorial Day in 2024 through August 1 of 2025.
17-8, 2.85. Superb.
Then, what the heck, the bottom simply dropped out.
Leaving us all to ask the question, yes, THAT QUESTION:
“What the heck happens to some guys?”
Over his final 42 innings of 2025, he surrendered a huge 39 earned runs.
What the heck?
Then this year, Peterson has gone 3–6 with an ERA of 6.09.
What the heck?
I simply have no answers how guys just seem like they can’t be successful in Queens, or even when they are successful, the bottom drops out for seemingly so many of them at some point.
What the heck?
