Mack Draft: - Sonny Gray, Levi Michael, Rand Ravanaas, Drew Hankin, and Kolton Wong

Sonny Gray, Vanderbilt - The Commodores will have one of the nation’s better weekend rotations this season with Gray and others leading the way. Gray has had a fruitful campaign at Vandy and is expected to parlay a solid junior season into an even better first-round draft status. Gray finished his sophomore campaign with a 10-5 record and a 3.48 ERA in 108 2/3 innings. Levi Michael - North Carolina - Nothing Michael does is overly flashy, but he is a natural playing the game with a well rounded skill set that allows him to do everything well. Similar to Wong as profiled above, productive college players at premium positions often get drafted earlier than expected, and Michael likely will join Wong at second base at the next level. My next top performer from the 2010 summer season is Rand Ravnaas of the Alexandria Aces. Rand is currently a senior outfielder from Georgetown University. He is 6-2/195 pounds and hails from Fort Worth, TX. He attended and was a four-year letter winner at All Saints Episcopal High School. Last year was a breakout year for Rand as he hit .347 with 11 home runs in 190 at-bats. He also drove in 35 runners and stole 12 bases on the season for the Hoyas. Rand capitalized on his outstanding regular 2010 season as he continued to hit very well for the Aces of the Cal Ripken League. The speedy rf turned cf hit .313/.504/.359 in 131 at-bats. He scored 19 runs, was among the leaders with 26 rbi's and hit 3 home runs for the Aces. He also hit 8 doubles, 4 triples and walked 10 times on the summer. Rand also swiped 15 bases during his time in Alexandria. Drew Hankin, the Zoo-Keeper of the famed fan group The Animals, died at home Wednesday of natural causes. He was 38. College baseball at Florida State will not be the same Drew loved Florida State baseball. He was so proud of "his team" and their accomplishments. If they played, more often than not he was there. Kolton Wong has a compact stroke, helped by short, powerful arms. He swings with great intent to cause harm to a baseball, but without sacrificing control in his actions. Wong seems to have figured out what Dustin Pedroia has in that short arms, strong hands and very good hand/eye can let you swing hard and retain bat control. A flat swing plane and a bat head that gets into the zone quickly should help him maintain high contact rates.
