Via Twitter the New York Mets announced that they have signed free agent OF Andrew Brown to minor league contract with an invite to camp.
Brown had a triple slash line of .232/.302/.429 5 HR in 126 plate appearances with the Colorado Rockies last season. He also had a batting line of .308/.364/.597 24 HR and 33 Doubles in 100 games for the Rockies AAA affiliate.

The AAA stats are very nice so i hope he can do a little bit more than in colorado. Do you think he split time with mike baxter??
Doubt it Michi.
Baxter is our clear cut #4 OF at this point. I do not believe anyone will be able to bump him from that spot.
I think Brown will be given a shot to compete for starting time in RF along with Cowgill and Baxter.
If Baxter wins then runner up is #4 OF, If Cowgill or Brown wins then Baxter is #4 and loser is sent to AAA
A mix-and-match OF of Duda, Cogwell, Baxter, Brown + either V'spin or N'huis is meh, but probably an improvement over last year.
I would still like to pick up Eaton though.
To be honest i think the mets will start the season with these guys. I think Sandy will spend a little money for a veteran arm and a few experienced "utility" guys like cedeno etc.
this is so pathetic...
Are they also going to sign Kingfish as well????
