Ryan Howard’s 4th hit of the game came in the top
of the 9th inning scoring Jimmie Rollins, the Phillies beat the Mets
Saturday night 5-4. The Mets have now lost 5 in a row. The game was tied at 4
in the top of the 9th. Kyle Farnsworth retired the first two batters
to face him and then walked Rollins, yielded a single by Chase Utley and then
the game winner by Howard. Dillon Gee
started for the Mets and got off to a rocky start. Utley had a sac fly and
Dominic Brown added an RBI single in a 4 hit 2 run top of the first inning
against Gee. In the bottom of the first David Wright clubbed a long homer (2) to left center to make is 2 all. For
Wright, it broke a streak of 136 at bats without a homer, the longest drought
of his career. In the top of the 3rd,
the Phils took a 3-2 lead on a long homer by Jimmie Rollins (4). After that Gee settled down. In the bottom of the 6th David
Wright tied the game with an RBI double, then Rookie Eric Campbell gave the
Mets a brief 4-3 lead hitting a sac fly in his first major league at bat. In the top of the 7th Scott Rice
came on and surrendered the lead yielding a RBI double to Utley to tie the game
at 4. Ryan had a huge night going 4 for
5. Rollins went 3 for 4 with 4 runs scored. For the Mets Wright went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Farnsworth takes the loss he’s
now 0-3. Mike Adams gets the win he’s
now 2-1. Jonathon Papelbon notches his
11th save. The Mets now stand at 16-19 on the year and 8-10 at home.
They are now all alone in last place in the NL East. Sunday afternoon the Mets
attempt to take the final game of the series.

for the Mets, Cole Hamels (0-2 7.02)
goes for the Phils.
