Lee is a hit machine that is projected to stick at short.
I currently have him as my 2nd SS on my board.

Lee is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound switch hitter who uses a short, compact swing and consistently barrels up pitches. He is an aggressive hitter, but he doesn’t strike out a lot. Defensively, he has the footwork and reliable hands to play shortstop long-term.

Texas Rangers 2022 Draft Prospects: SS Brooks Lee
As you might be able to gather from this slider, 2022’s draft class is loaded with shortstops, much like 2021’s class.
Brooks Lee is the last one though, we promise!
Lee, a collegiate shortstop at Cal Polytech, hails from the same state as oft-rumored 2021 draft prospect SS Marcelo Mayer.
The freshman infielder is a switch hitter with plus potential from both sides and is actually ranked as the top hitter in the 2021 draft class according to Baseball America, even ahead of the highly touted Elijah Green. That is some praise for Brooks Lee.
He can pick it with the glove too, so naturally he’s the full package as many of these other prospects seem to be.
Lee probably won’t be a Texas Ranger, as he’ll be selected before they have a chance to pick, but he’s still lots of fun to watch and name to keep track of.

8. Brooks Lee

A name many expected to hear called in the 2019 MLB Draft, Lee decided to forego MLB to play for his dad at Cal Poly. Listed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Lee is an extremely physical, barrel-chested shortstop with a significant strength throughout his frame. Big for the position, Lee carries his size extremely well on the dirt where his fluidity on the dirt and huge arm really standout on defense. He receives high marks for his instincts and leadership on the field, captaining the defense in-between plays. A switch-hitter with power from both sides of the plate, Lee showcases a big bat with a plus hit tool and thump. Extremely quick hands. It’s plus raw power that he’s getting into, spraying missiles to all fields. Scouts believe there’s significant power coming. Lee may eventually have to shift to third base, though his toolset fits the position nicely. He’s a fringy runner, but his athleticism more than makes up for any foot speed he may lack.

Between Carter Young and Brooks Lee, 2022 might turn into another Mayer/Lawler debate like 2021 had. I like that Brooks Lee can hit very well from both sides of the plate and displays the same type of power each side he’s swinging. He’s got the size you like to see for a shortstop of his caliber, and he displays quick hands at the plate and in the field. On the base paths he leaves little to be desired, but the rest of the package is there.

A name we expected in the 2020 draft, Lee presents a plus hit tool with present gap power. Smooth actions at SS with an above average glove. Missed 2020 season due to injury, but in line to be the everyday SS in 2021.

The son of Cal Poly head coach Larry Lee, Brooks turned down upwards of $2M out of high school in 2019 and some numbers were north of $3M. He had surgery on his knee prior to Cal Poly’s 2020 season and missed the majority of fall ball, so the data on him is limited and the rawness in his swing is still present. A switch-hitter, Lee has an above average hit tool from both sides though it’s more visually appealing from the left side where he seems to have more raw power (as of now, it’s only average). Lee will probably stick at shortstop for Cal Poly in his time there as he hopes to join alum Spencer Howard in the big leagues someday.

When Lindor goes the way of Zoilo Versalles in about 3 years, we may need a Brooks Lee.
Yet another SS? I’d be looking at solid hitting ( pitchers and OFers only) in the next 2 drafts
