Needs: 3B
Thoughts:
-First thing to remember. This is NOT a major league baseball team. It operates as a Little League team. The league needs to take this over and send the owners to GITMO.

-This would be the one team that needs a third baseman.
-Team has history of signing one-year deals with veterans and selling off starters for multiple prospects.
-RHSP Jarrod Parker will head up the rotation.
-All graduating pieces seem to fit, but there will be one too many shortstops and six rotational pitchers.
Summary Suggestion: This could be a perfect place for Daniel Murphy. Could play third, DH, whatever. You throw in a couple of B/C Mets low-level Mets prospects and I bet you could pry away LHSP Brett Anderson.
Now, if you want to shoot for the moon (Gonzalez), it's going to cost you. David Wright would immediately fill the need at third, but Billy Beane would never pay this kind of money. We're back to Daniel Murphy, with (at least) Jeurys Familia thrown in. Lastly, I'd offer Wilmer Flores.
Murphy, Familia, and Flores for Gio.

Murphy, Familia, and Flores for Gio
Seems like too much to me.
Murphy + Flores seems like a fair offer and if they NEEDED more I'd add a lesser pitcher. I just don't think Gio is THAT much better than Niese.
I'm not nearly as high on Gio as the rest of the league seems to be.
You try not to "buy high" and the price for young starters this off-season is absurd. If anything you should be looking to sell (which I think Sandy is).
Yes, if anything, I'm trading to receive multiple prospects. 2012 mets have a chance(in my mind), but I wouldn't be opposed to strip mining them either. Build for 2014? If.thats the actual plan, then why wait. Wright, Davis, And Niese would be my only untouchable mlb starters. Prefer to wait until july to trade Duda, just to see if he could actually become a cheap young slugging outfielder that the early returns are pointing towards. I'm certainly not trading prospects at this point, its the mets' only hope to compete the way things are going in Wilpon Land nowadays.
shut it down...
get all young pitcher and anyone with a ding to Port St. Lucie the day after Christmas...
