John Lannan (L, 2-2) did not help his cause: 4.0 IP, 8 R, 5 ER, 10 H, (2 HR) 2 BB, 2 K.

Chase Hutchingson: 2-2 IP, R, 2 H, BB3 K.
Dario Alvarez: 1.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, 2 K. (Moving quickly up the ladder, the 25 yr. old Alvarez looked very sharp in 61.1 innings in Savannah, then only pitched in 4 games for St. Lucie where he did not give up a run, and now in Binghamton, he has not given up a run in his first 2 games. Four strikeouts and no walks in 2.1 innings.)

Jayce Boyd: 3-4, HR, BB, RBI, 3 R.
T.J. Rivera: 3-5, 2B, RBI, 2 R.
Travis Taijeron: 4-5, HR, 2B, 5 RBI, 2 R.  (Taijeron clearly has power, but he has never exhibited an ability to hit well for average.)

　

　

Charlotte (59-62) stuns St. Lucie (68-57) 6-3.

After scoring 6 in the 1^st inning, Charlotte held off the Mets to claim a victory.

Kevin McGowan (L, 2-5) got roughed up, and then righted the boat, but an inning too late: 5.0 IP, 6 R, 9 H, (HR) 2 BB, K.
Tim Peterson: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, BB, 4 K.

Maikis De la Cruz supplied most of the Mets offense: 3-4, HR, 2B, RBI, 2 R.

 Kevin Canelon: (W, 1-2) 6.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 0 BB, 6 K. (After 2 strong seasons in the DSL, Canelon is dominating in his first season stateside, a fact not demonstrated by his 1-2 W-L record. In 31.0 innings, his ERA is a mere 1.74, his WHIP only 0.77, but perhaps most impressive is that he has walked jist 1 batter.

Alex Palsha: (S, 10) 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, BB, 2 K. (A major surprise, the 27^th round selection, 22 year old Palsha, is mowing GCL


hitters down in his 1^st pro season. As impressive as his 0.69 ERA and 10 of 11 saves, is his 11.77 K/9 IP and 2.08 BB/9 IP.)
