The Mets traded RHP Bobby Wahl, RHP Adam Hill, and IF Felix Valerio to Milwaukee for OF Keon Broxton. 28-years old R/R 2018: 78-AB, .179 4-yr MLB career: 701-AB, .221
I admit I did not consider Broxton from a defensive standpoint...50 steals in 800 career PAs - so he might be good overall, then, as a solid # 4/#5. We can use positive, happy dudes. Trade Juan, then, free up cash, keep dealing,
Or keep Juan and figure Broxton is our 5th OF. Two great defense right OFs wouldn't be the worst thing.

In fact, one our writers who has inside sources said that the Mets are trying to ship Lagares as we speak.
My guess would be to do this with our current 3Bman... consider them both dead money... throw ina could of chips... and get back someone, at full salary, like Moose.
Ok, so this is a good deal for the Mets, trading an excess AAAA power arm and some low level prospects for a 4th/5th OF. It improves the big league roster by adding a guy that can play a plus CF (now we have 2) and add some much needed speed.
However, skepticism is still legitimate. Broxton has some upside but major questions with parts of his offensive game - Ks and OBP. He cannot be the "bat" that they need to add, and unless they deal Lagares for an MLB asset - meaning a plus bat, or a plus bullpen arm, then this move continues to carry the Wilpon penny-pinching stink.
I will try to keep an open mind and wait for the finished product, but it's same old same old until they put their money where the mouth is. Time to add a bat and two quality arms to the pen so Lugo can challenge for a rotation spot.
this trade is good. the one they just made is not. Brodie is just going to trade away all my favorite minor leaguers and drive me to not root for this goddamn team. infuriating.

I think this was a solid pickup
Mets begin the weeding out of AAA relievers in the pipeline.
I still have 14 on my Syracuse board.
I also had both Valario and Hill as 'blue' prospects
I liked what I saw from Wahl in his limited time last year .. I’m as of right now underwhelmed by the deal
It's funny.
I went on a Brewers' Twitter account and the fans are VERY UNHAPPY with this trade.
They LOVED Keon... his smile... his interaction with fans... his fantastic defense (stats better than Lagares).
They also thing that, as one fan said, "BVW is killing it this off season".
Like I said... interesting.
Either way... THIS IS YOUR OF-5 IN 2019
Do you see Legares being moved now Mack ?

The "Gregory/Kaplan" analysis:
trade for a utility player... "another player that can't hit"
trade for 6th starter or middle reliever "a pitcher that can'tpitch"
trade for Babe Ruth in his prime f=r 23 dead contracts and 2 chips " give up too much in the pipeline"
These are Mets fans folks.
SMH
Had a 1.4 WAR last year
Do we have 5 other OF's with a 1.4 and over 2018 WAR???
There are utility players that hit for averages better than the .180 to .220 range.
Continuing to stockpile batters, including utility players, that hit below .250 is just doing the same thing and expecting different results.
