Well, Trout and Ohtani are acclaimed for a reason. Both stars had Cookie Carrasco's number, and before the Mets knew it, it was 8-0. They got a run back in the 7th and almost 3 more, as the inning ended with a fly near the wall with 2 on and 2 out. Loup looked sharp, fanning Nimmo on a perfect knee-high corner strike. He is a Mets pen loss.
Alonso just cracked his 17th and the Mets trail 9-2 in the 8th. I'm going to bed - fill me in, folks. (I peeked - lost 11-6. Khalil Lee made it respectable with a 9th inning 3 run bomb to left center, his first as a big leaguer)
Atlanta is officially HOTlanta, winners of 10 straight. They are like a Terminator T2 model, they just never die.
Megill back, but Holderman out. Figures. Jake Reed replaced Holderman and stunk in relief Saturday night. The Mets need the other Jake, and Max, back, and pronto.
Please stop the injury conveyor belt.
MINORS:
19 year old Lucie Mets' Junior Tilien had 2 hits, including his 7th HR in 22 games, and 24 RBIs and .300. Who exactly is this guy? After all, Dom Smith is not hitting as well as Junior, and that is a fact. Let me be the first to call Tilien a PHENOM.
St Lucie scored 9 and Christian Scott started nicely again. Now 2-0, 28 Ks in 19 IP.
Brooklyn got held to 6 hits, but scored 10 runs. And, in response to my too-many-strikeouts rant yesterday, Newton and Palmer got up 9 times and fanned just once, with 2 hits and 2 walks. Good.
Lavender's first save. He's 4-1, 0.76, 37 Ks in 23.2 IP. Nice!
Binghamton blew a late lead and lost 7-5. And Syracuse made 4 errors and lost 8-4 in a game that was 1-1 after 5.
Those two teams sure do lose a lot. Or is it just me?
Brett Baty has tired of my criticism, too, and has heated up - 7 for 16 and 2 walks in his last 4 games. Wyatt Young scored two runs (hit and a walk). The Rumblers were impeded by lack of offense from Matt Winaker (now hitting .121) and Jose Colina (1 for 15 with 9 Ks this year so far). Alvarez the Great lashed his 14th double.

Morning fellas! I noticed on the DSL slate that the Yankees and Mets DSL1 teams are squaring off again last night after that 19-16, extra inning game a few days ago. This time the Yankes pummels 8 pitchers in nine innings to 14-8 final, and that was after the Metsies exploded for five runs in the 8th inning. Happy to see that Simon Juan is all the way up to .100 but sat last night. However, Willie Fanas on the DSL2 team is up to .400 along with Jesus Baez. Y’all better start learning those names. Eppler stole Fanas from his former employers. Then, there’s Samuel Camacaro hitting .455 in the early going. The second team outlasted the Rockies 13-12 in 11 innings after both teams scored 4 runs in the tenth inning, LOL!
Nice DSL update Gus. When is see DSL, it makes me think of diesel prices. We can only hope our DSL prospects have slug % as high as .700, and pitchers’ ERAs as low as 7.00, which are diesel price equivalents.
People already are wondering if, when Fanas grows up, he’ll be the next Tilien.
They call Tilien’s agent Rep Tilien, which describes Scott Boras pretty well.

O.K. I'll blame it on Sal Licata on SNY a week ago when he said: The race is over in the NL East but I never expected to fall this far this fast with a big game tonight and oh joy Trout is back. Lets face it our starting pitching outside of CC (I'll give him last night) hasn't been great and you have to wonder about Bassitt at this point as well. The upside is the Braves and Phils can't win every game for the rest of the season but this week has been ugly and we need to change the narrative quickly and if all this wasn't enough the Evil Empire is looking more and more like the 98' version so we really have our work cut out for us as I'd really hoped the "June Swoon" talk was a thing of the past.
Mack, one thing with Tilien…he has normal strikeout numbers.Almost everyone else in the Mets minors fans like mad. The Mets should tread carefully here.

I really don't care what your K/9 ratio is if you hit .300
Mack, Dominguez's numbers look great until you see he fanned 80 times in 46 games. My point with Tillen is, straight from the Complex league with no higher rookie ball teams in between, he jumps up and is making the best contact on the team, including Ramirez. Tilien's entire career above Complex ball is 22 games. And I wonder if Dom Smith would be hitting any better down there right now.
I am just saying....watch who you deal away. He may be unranked, but the hitting prospects right now are Alvarez, then Baty, Vientos, Mauricio, and Ramirez...and early signs are that Tilien just might belong in the middle of that second group.

2. I expect at least 2 prospect bats in the first 5 picks next month.
3. I'm not as concerned as I used to be about affiliate prospects what with Steve's wallet now. Look who he signed this past off season.

Why do I continue hear about a June swoon. Mets are 5-5 in June and on a very tough west coast road trip. Yes the Braves and Phillies are playing out of their minds but a June swoon. I don’t think so. If you told me before the trip we would be 4-5 with all our injuries, I would have said sign me up. I hope the Mets don’t prove me wrong for the rest of the month.

Those stats are incorrect
Look on the June Swoon thing we lost 5 games in the standings on this trip and it ain't over yet so no matter how u spin it it's not good and now were in a pennant race with 2 teams and I didn't think that only a week ago. Granted we were winning without Jake, Max and Tylor but no doubt we need them now ASAP
I humbly disagree on the June Swoon but I share your concern on how quick the Mets big lead was reduced. But the cause is that the Braves are scorching hot. If the Braves went an excellent 7-3 we would feel more comfortable with a seven game lead. It’s not a Mets swoon, it’s a Braves team that is on an unstainable winning streak. But the Mets are still playing ok in June against the top teams of the West.
