Binghamton scored a season-high nine runs in
Thursday’s 9-7 win over Portland. It was the finale of a sevengame
homestand during which the B-Mets went 3-4. Mike
Antonini threw a season-high 6.2 innings giving up one run
with six strikeouts in the win. Shawn Bowman paved the way
for the B-Mets at the plate with his first three-hit performance
of 2009, 3-4 with a double and an RBI. D.J. Wabick got Binghamton
on the board in the second with a two-run home run
to right off of Portland starter Blake Maxwell to make it 2-1.
Maxwell went five innings giving up six runs and took the loss.
Lucas Duda extended his hitting streak to seven games with a
2-4 night including a double and two RBI. Julio De La Cruz
nailed down his second save of the season throwing the final
1.2 innings scoreless.

last start, Owen threw five innings in a losing effort against
New Hampshire May 3 giving up three runs on seven hits. For
the season, he is 0-2 with a 6.66 ERA. In two starts against
the Thunder, Owen is 0-0 with an ERA of 4.22 in 10.2 innings
walking seven. The 22-year old righty was the Mets’ 20th
round draft choice in the 2007 draft out of Francis Marion
University of the Peach Belt Conference (Division II).
Trenton will counter with LHP Wilkin De La Rosa who will be
making his first AA start. De La Rosa recently joined Trenton
from Tampa (High-A) where he was 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in
three starts spanning 14 innings. De La Rosa signed with the
Yankees as a 16-year old out of the Dominican Republic. In
his first five seasons he played as an outfielder making it as
high as Charleston (Low-A) before making the transition to the
mound in 2007 with the GCL Yankees (Rookie). Last season
he worked primarily as a reliever with Charleston (Low-A),
making 20 relief appearances to open the season before
transitioning to the rotation at the end of June, starting 8
games. He was 7-3 with a 2.29 ERA in 90.1 innings for the
River Dogs. He ended the season with three starts for Tampa
recording a 2-1 record with a 1.10 ERA.
