Update: P – Shaun Tabrett
Tabrett will be operated on at 10am tomorrow morning, Aussie time, for additional work on his throwing shoulder. His bicep tendon will be moved and pinned down and his shoulder will be released a little more than the last procedure, which will hopefully create more flexibility.
Tabrett’s ETA, if the surgery goes well tomorrow, remains on the 5-6 month period that originally was set when he had the operation on his labrum.
He was signed as a 16-year old prospect by the Mets, with an arsenal that includes a solid curveball, a change-up, and a high-80’s fastball. His injury history dates back to tendinitus which was evident at the time of his signing.
What all this means is there is a chance that Shaun will only be tossing back beers in the future, but we’ll light a candle tonight and keep you up to date with his rehab.

Shaun Tabrett has certainly had an unlucky run with injuries. I guess this is the reality of signing young players i.e. will they break before they play. Tabrett has some good stuff as a pitcher; I've seen it with my own eyes. I'm pleased that he is still in the mix, as I actually thought he was out of baseball having not seen his name in a while. The Mets have had a bit of an unlucky run signing Aussies, but I feel that the scout who inked them to a contract needs to be accountable too. Players want to play fit or unfit, and the scouts should be more prudent in assessing the health risks of some players. I hope that Shaun Tabrett makes it, and that his surgery is very successful.
