Spring Training:
Well, it's obvious that P Pat Misch is being "un-stretched" into a relief role, since he was brought back in on Saturday. I'm removing him from the "Rotation Circus" list since it's obvious he's not in contention for a rotation spot.
I've also removed the name of P Tobi Stoner. I've never heard one members of either the press or brass think of Tobi as a possible 2010 rotation candidate, so I might as well stop beating this drum.
In Saturday game, both Misch (1.0-IP, 1-ER, 2-BB) and Francesco Rodriquez (1.0-IP, 2-ER) got tapped today, while the Mets bats stayed cool.
Regarding John Maine, frankly, it wasn't that bad. He gave up only four hits over four innings, one of which was a 2-run homer by Cory Rasmus in the first inning. Things then settled down and he struck out one while giving up no base on balls.
RP Jenrry Mejia was supposed to pitch back-to-back today, but didn't... which makes one think he's going to the minor league camp, maybe before Monday.
First base wise, someone other than Ike Davis (.478) has to start hitting soon... today it was Mike Jacobs turn and he finished the day batting .174. Then, don't you know just to get the ole rumors going again, Davis blasts a homer off of RP Jason Motte in the 9th inning to tie the game up.
Five of the first seven Mets hits were doubles, of which the ones hit by Chris Coste (.364) and Frank Cattawhachamacallit (.125) resulted in the first two Mets runs.
Could their be a happier player in the State of Florida today than Ruben Gotay, with his walk-off against Kiko????
