Joel Sherman of the New York Post has learned from two Mets officials that the club is shopping outfielder Gary Matthews Jr.
The Mets must feel pretty good about Carlos Beltran's ongoing recovery from knee surgery and Angel Pagan's ability to fill in for the first month of the season. Matthews, 35, is 11-for-32 this spring with two home runs and four RBI. He posted an ugly 697 OPS last season in 316 at-bats for the Angels
-trust me... the Mets would trade anybody and every thing for a pitcher that can get out of the first inning scoreless...
