We’ve
pretty much figured out the Mets 25-man squad so this would be a good time to
move upstate.
The
opening day 2011 Buffalo squad was quite talented and then the injuries began
in Queens. This year is no different, but there are major questions to answer
before they wipe the show off of home plate.
The
rotation will immediately be affected when the Mets officially decide to keep Johan Santana back in Florida until around June.
Bum arms and shoulders hate cold weather.
My guess
in Miguel Batista will make the trip to
Queens, leaving the Bisons rotation with Dylan
Owen, Mark Cohoon, Collin McHugh, Chris Schwinden, and Jeremy Hefner.
I’ve got Daniel Herrera making the Mets as the second
lefty, leaving Robert Carson, Josh Stinson, Elvin
Ramirez, Roy Merritt, Fernando Cabrera, Pedro Beato, and Bobby Parnell.
The
starting infield should be 1B Alan Dykstra,
2B Reese Havens, SS Jordany
Valdespin and 3B Zach Lutz. The
problem is the city of Buffalo is in love with 1B/OF Val
Pascucci and Valdespin should be playing second base. I’ve got them all
making the team. In addition, I have Michael Fisher
and Omar Quintanilla backing them up.
I’ve got Kai Gronauer and Lucas
May as the catchers, though Vinnie Rottino will
also make the team as a backup outfielder and third catcher. Joining Rottino in
the outfield will be Josh Satin. Juan Lagares, and Kirk
Nieuwenhuis.
