Draft Game Notes
• My mind wears down early these days and my meds present me from staying up for the late games. I apologize for not reporting most on my thoughts until a day later.
• My March Mock will be posted this weekend.
• We’ve talked about the impact on the 2012 draft now that Miami (13-3) catcher, senior Peter O’Brien was reinstated. No one has ever accused O’Brien of being a golden Glove candidate, but his offense output is attempting to match Florida’s Mike Zunino this season. O‘Brien has two home runs Tuesday night against 10-4 Ilinois State, and his 2012 stat line reads: .362, 6-HR, 20-RBI, 11-BB, 13-K, in 58-Abs. Right now, he move ahead of high school star Stryker Trahan as the 2nd catcher to go in the June draft.
• Clemson may need a time out this month. They lost yesterday 8-4 to Western Carolina. This is the Tigers’ fourth loss in a row and their ecord for March is 2-6. Anybody got the phone number for Mike D’Antonio?
• #1 Florida RF Preston Tucker just keeps putting up consistently numbers, game after game, no matter who he plays again. Tuesday, it was in-state rival #6 Florida and Tucker didn’t disappoint: 2-4, HR (6), 2-R, 3-RBI. Yearly stat line: .313/.368/.657. Tucker moves ahead of Albert Amora as my #5 RFer in the draft (behind Byron Buxton, Victor Roache, Tyler Naquin, and David Dahl).
• Lines:
o Louisville Nick Burdi – 2.1-IP, 6-R, 4-ER, 1-K, 2-BB, 6.97
