In a post to his blog for the Daily News, Andy Martino says the Mets do not intend to trade Bobby Parnell as the trade deadline approaches.
“According to a person with direct knowledge of the Mets’ thinking, GM Sandy Alderson considers Parnell a valuable piece for next year, rather than an opportunity to capitalize on a contender’s need,” Martino explains.
In 29 games this season, Parnell is 5-3 with a 2.83 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings. He has nine saves in 12 opportunities this season.

Why does that smack of, "(Fill in name here) has our full faith and support."
It's hard to make trades without giving up someone.
Tough call...it seems the Mets finally have a closer they can count on and they don't come cheap on the market. Of course, that's what makes Parnell so valuable in trade.
If the Mets did move him, who would close next year? Leathersich? Familia? Mazzoni?
If Parnell is one of the most marketable pieces and would help fill an OF need, I think they have to move him.
I'm wondering what prompted this info? Are a lot of teams calling on him? I know Detroit is actively and aggressively pursuing closer options. I'd trade Parnell for Castellanos.
Leathersich and Tapia are being groomed for a future closer role
BTW... if you want to trade someone, tell the world they aren't available...
Good, I hope this is just posturing.
