FLASH - 1B - Ike Davis

Ike Davis of the Las Vegas 51s and James Paxton of the Tacoma Rainiers were rewarded today for their strong performances during the week of June 17th – 23rd, as the Pacific Coast League named them PCL Player and Pitcher of the Week for that period.

Davis was on fire as he hit .474 in 6 games, accompanied by a .630 on-base percentage and 1.263 slugging percentage that included four home runs, all of which were best in the PCL. The first baseman collected 9 hits and 7 RBI, and drew eight walks while leading the Rainiers to a 4-2 record in those games, including taking three out of four from the Padres in Tucson. Davis’ week was highlighted by back-to-back two-homer games against the Padres.

Born in Edina, Minnesota, Davis was a first-round draft pick (18th overall) by the New York Mets in 2008 out of Arizona State University. After two seasons in the minors, Davis was called up by the Mets in 2010 where he has played in parts of the last four seasons. Davis hit a team-high 32 home runs in 2012 while in New York, but was optioned to Las Vegas on June 9th after starting the 2013 season with a .161 average. In 12 games with the 51s this season, Davis is batting .310 with four home runs.
