RAINY SERIES IN PORTLAND: The B-Mets and Portland Sea Dogs were postponed on Wednesday. Out of the three scheduled games at Hadlock Field, Binghamton and Portland only finished one. The B-Mets beat the Sea Dogs, 3-0 on Monday night. Tuesday night was suspended after two innings, and Wednesday’s game never started. Both games will be made up as parts of DH’s at NYSEG Stadium.
 
BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Cory Mazzoni makes his 10th start of the season for the B-Mets, and his third against Trenton. He is 0-1 in two starts, and has allowed eight runs in 9.2 innings. Cory earned the win in his last start, June 20 @ Richmond. In the game, he allowed three runs on five hits over six innings of work. On the road this season, Mazzoni is 2-1 with a 3.54 ERA in four starts. Opponents are hitting .275 against him in 2013. In three starts in June, he is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA. The Mets drafted Mazzoni in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft out of NC State.

TRENTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Zach Nuding  makes his 15th start of the season for the Thunder, and his second against the Binghamton Mets. He was tagged with the loss on June 4th against the B-Mets after giving up three runs on eight hits over six innings. Despite posting a 3.42 ERA, Nuding is just 2-8 on the season. Opponents are batting .281 against him this season. On the road in 2013, he is 1-5 with a 3.53 ERA in seven starts. He has thrown at least 5.0 innings on the mound in each of his last six starts. The Yankees drafted Nuding in the 30th round of the 2010 draft out of Weatherford College (TX).

PROBLEMS W/ MOTHER NATURE: Wednesday was the fifth game in the last two weeks that has been affected by the weather. The B-Mets were postponed on June 13 at Trenton,  June 18 at Richmond, and June 26 at Portland. The start of Monday’s game against the Sea Dogs was delayed by 84 minutes due to the threat of rain. On Tuesday, the game was halted after two innings, and will be completed later this season.

19 OVER .500: Binghamton currently has the best record in the Eastern League. They are 47-28, and are 19 games over .500 for the first time since August 28, 2004 (76-57). The last time Binghamton was 20 games over .500 was August 14, 2004 (70-50).

JUNE STATS: The B-Mets are 16-4 in the month of June. They are outscoring their opponents, 108-61. The pitching staff has an ERA of 2.68. Erik Goeddel is 3-0 in four starts this month, and has a 1.08 ERA. Cesar Puello has paced the offense with a .481 batting average. He also has seven home runs and 20 RBI. Allan Dykstra has 19 RBI, Danny Muno has 14, and Travis Taijeron has 12.


STOLEN BASES: In their last 14 games, Binghamton has only stolen five bases. On Monday, Portland passed them for the most stolen bases in the league (84). Binghamton has 82 this season.  

BULLPEN NUMBERS:  The B-Mets bullpen has not allowed a run in 15 of their last 22 games, a stretch spanning 61.0 innings. They have compiled a 1.77 ERA during that span, lowering their overall season ERA to 3.14. Pedro Feliciano has allowed no runs and one hit in his four appearances. Jeff Walters leads the league with 18 saves in 20 chances. Adam Kolarek has only allowed one run in his last 14 appearances, and has a 1.60 ERA this season.

AGAINST TRENTON IN 2013: Thursday starts the final series of the season against the Trenton Thunder. The B-Mets are 5-3 against the Thunder, and 2-1 this season at NYSEG Stadium. The final game at Arm & Hammer Park on June 13th was postponed, and is being made up as a doubleheader on Saturday.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: Binghamton continues their five-game series against the Trenton Thunder on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM as RHP Logan Verrett takes the ball for the B-Mets against Trenton’s RHP Mikey O’Brien.
