delmarvanow - Former Parkside ace Hunter Parsons has been selected in the 19th Round of the MLB Draft by the New York Mets.

Parsons, who just finished his senior season with the University of Maryland, was taken by the Mets with the 568th pick.

The right-hander was named the Bayside Conference Pitcher of the Year his senior season and was previously drafted by the Cleveland Indians prior to enrolling at Maryland. He threw a no-hitter for the Rams in an April 2015 victory over JMB.

Struck out a career high 10 in seven shutout innings at Stetson (3/8)…matched that career high 10 strikeouts with no walks in eight innings against Creighton (3/22)…gave up just two hits over eight shutout innings against Indiana (3/29)…notched wins at Northwestern (4/12) and against Ohio State (4/20)…struck out nine over seven innings at Penn State (4/26)…

Struck out eight over seven innings at Minnesota (5/10)…went eight innings and earned a win in his final home start against Iowa (5/16)…went seven and two thirds of an inning to notch a win at the Big Ten Tournament against third-seeded Illinois (5/22).
