Reed Marcum hammered baseballs all weekend. Big, strong C / 1B with a rocket arm and a 4.0 GPA

6-foot-3, 240-pound physical frame. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter showed power in the box with an exit velocity of 98 mph. Began in a wide stance with a controlled wrapping load, then used a short stride to initiate his swing. Bat speed was explosive, and showed upward swing plane. He found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Behind the plate, showed his ability to throw runners out with an efficient pop time of 1.92-2.00, he recorded a position velocity of 79 mph during throw downs; showed a quick exchange and average footwork. Displays average flexibility. Used a short arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing some accuracy to the base. Recorded a time of 7.39 in the 60-yard dash.

Reed Marcum is a 2021 C/RHP, 1B with a 6-3 210 lb. frame from London, KY who attends South Laurel HS. Recorded a 7.60 second 60-yard dash time. Large frame with present physicality and broad shoulders. Primary catcher with a short arm stroke and smooth hands in the transfer. Some carry out of the hand with arm strength recorded up to 77 mph. Best pop time of 1.97 seconds with quickness to the release. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a full arm stroke up to a high three-quarters arm slot. Extended slot and mixed in a big breaking 12/6 curveball. Lower half stays online toward the plate and the fastball topped out at 84 mph with heavy life. Also showed a knuckleball. Righthanded hitter with present bat speed and a level swing plane. Consistent and repeatable stroke with a patient approach. Well struck contact to both gaps and has a smooth swing path.
