Mack's spin -

I don't usually start to follow players over a year out until half way through the current year, and this one caught me off-guard.

This is really big news. If you were the #3 prospect for 2023, it pretty much insures you for consideration being in the top5 in 2022.

Look for more to develop here.

8-3-21 - BA -

Cam Collier, the No. 3 prospect on Baseball America's rankings of the top 2023 players, is reclassifying to be eligible for the 2022 draft. Collier announced the news today on his Instagram account.

Collier, a 16-year-old infielder who has also spent time on the mound, was the premier offensive threat in the 2023 class. He's 6-foot-2, 210 pounds with a smooth, compact swing from the left side, good bat speed and easy power. He has consistently performed at a high level in games, both in terms of getting on base and hitting for power, often while playing against older competition. He has hit well against both lefties and righties, showing a mature approach at the plate for his age, with the pitch recognition and contact skills to regularly square up both fastballs and offspeed pitches.

A Louisville commit at Mount Paran Christian High in Kennesaw, Ga., Collier is a below-average runner with good instincts at third base and a strong arm.

PG -

Cam Collier is a 2023 3B/RHP, SS with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Austell, GA who attends Mt Paran Christian. Large frame with a physical build showing strength throughout. Ran a 7.18 second sixty yard dash. Primary Third Baseman, sitting back as he makes sure to keep the baseball in front of him. Confident with the leather as he scoops it up before working into transfer. Arm strength present as he threw it 92 mph with accuracy during drills. Feel for the position present in drills and in game. Made a great diving catch in game. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, working with a side-step to a belt high lift. Stays balanced at at the top before driving down the hill. Clean arm stroke as he pounded the zone. Fastball up to 93 mph as he worked it in and out. Flashed a curveball showing depth and a fading changeup he tunneled off the fastball. Rounded the arsenal off with a sharp slider showing horizontal bite to it in low-80's. Upside on the mound going forward. Left-Handed Hitter, starting upright with an open front leg. Hover lift before striding out and landing in a balanced position. Fires the hips and hands as he proved to have premium bat speed. Impacted with juice as he drove it on a line to all fields. Power present too as he drove it deep with backspin. Projects even more power down the road.
