Emaarion Boyd, OF (Mississippi)
Boyd already seems like one of the best defensive center fielders in the class, thanks to an outstanding defensive look at East Coast Pro. He’s a clear plus-plus runner who clocked a 6.56-second 60-yard dash at PG National and an almost identical 6.55 time at East Coast Pro.
Boyd’s speed alone would play well enough in center field, but on multiple occasions in Hoover, Boyd showed a fantastic first step and quick read off the bat, which allowed him to track down multiple hard hit balls that looked like no-doubt extra-base hits on contact. His speed and instincts in the outfield should allow him to stick in center field in the long run, where he has a chance to be an impact defender.

Boyd is one of the many players that I have recently started paper on.
An incredible defensive centerfielder. Fast as hell.
Also has displayed some good pop with a bat in his hand.
I like him. Currently have him as my 16th OF.

Just in case you forgot who the 1.1 pick will be in this draft.
8-5-21 - Prospects Live
Brandon Barriera
Barriera is easily one of the most electric arms in the country, especially from the left side, and it was on full display at PG National. He sat 91-94 and ran it up to 95 with late life, really making life difficult on hitters. The secondaries were no slouch, either, with a low-80s slider that shows good bite and dips under bats plus a mid-80s changeup that he sells pretty well and shows depth and some fade. The frame is athletic and projectable with some present strength in the lower half and the arm is quick. Barriera is a must-see when he takes the hill.

We have discussed Barriera early this mock season.
95 heater... low 80s slider with good bite... mid-80s change with some fade.
Currently 5th on my very talented LHP board.

26 Andrew Dutkanych RHP Brebeuf Jesuit Prep
Andrew Dutkanych presents an ideal starting pitcher frame with broad shoulders and tons of projection remaining. He's got an extremely quick arm and the athleticism on the mound is absolutely incredible. Fastball with get up to 96 with serious intent. Projects to throw very hard. Dutkanych has a firm slider into the upper 80s, as well as a loopier curveball in the mid-70s. One of the more projectable athletes on the mound in the class. Significant upside.

Everything I have seen written about this guy is super positive.
Prep stats: 42 2/3 innings pitched, 63 strikeouts, 1.17 WHIP
I currently have him on my RHP at #19.
Another Vandy pitcher commit.

Carter Young, SS, Vanderbilt
As of right now, he’s the best shortstop in this class. Carter Young took over shortstop after Austin Martin was drafted a year ago. He can do a little bit of everything. He reminds me of a Trea Truner/Dansby Swanson type of guy. He’s taken a backseat this past season due to the star power of Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker, but now it’s his time to shine.
Mack's spin -
This writer has him as the top SS in this draft.
I disagree.
He is very good, but, in my opinion, Termarr Johnson, Brooks Lee, Nazier Mule, and Robert Moore rank above him.
