Joel
Sherman NY Post: Luis Rojas’ job is safe despite Mets’ nosedive. “Although
the Mets have fallen to third place with a 9-15 second half, a source familiar
with Steve Cohen’s thinking said the owner is not holding the manager
responsible for the poor play.”
Danny
Abriano SNY.TV: Who's to blame for the Mets' collapse and tumble out of first
place? Not the Front Office or Luis
Rojas – Danny blames the offense.
Joel
Sherman NY Post: Five players with a lot to lose if they don’t help Mets. 1.
Javier
Baez; 2. Michael
Conforto; 3. Francisco
Lindor- “Lindor’s offensive trend line since his career-best 2018 has been
steadily falling. Now, he is out with an oblique injury. Smile and positive
words or not, Lindor is going to have to win Met fans over with his bat. He
should have at least September to do that” 4. James
McCann; 5. Dominic
Smith;
NY
Post: Mets’ Pete Alonso unfazed by week-long hitless skid. “The Mets
slugger is mired in an 0-for-21 hitless skid over the past week entering
Tuesday’s homestand opener against the Nationals, but he feels like the quality
of his at-bats recently portend that the breakout the sliding Mets sorely need
from him is coming…’Well, I’m hitting balls hard, they’re either not going out
of the yard or I’m hitting line drives right at guys,’ Alonso
said after Sunday’s game.”
SNY.TV: 5
things to watch as Mets and Nationals play three-game series at Citi Field.
The Mets' offense needs to wake up if they hope to reassert themselves in the
NL East. Also, “Can Carlos
Carrasco keep rolling? How careful will Mets be with Juan Soto?”

We can't help but talk #Mets, even on an offnight. Thanks to Phil Maillard for helping commiserate, which actually ends up being quite cathartic. As @metfanrich said to me, "I think I'm ready for them to kick me in the pants some more" 🤣https://t.co/LHr17xspoI @BTB_MikeII

Wild Vince Coleman stat....27 walks in a whole season, but 5 in one game.
Coleman is looking good right now, so for that matter is Choo Choo Coleman, compared to these current bums.
I'd like to say it was because they were chasing bad pitches, but I watched the last two outs of Saturday's game. Ian Kennedy put six fastballs right in the strike zone. Alonso and Davis swung and missed at all of them. Similar with Wheeler on Sunday.
