Mets resign Matt Reynolds and 2 other Minor League Free Agents

In addition to the big free agents signed this past week, the Mets also signed 3 minor league free agents.

Matt Reynolds, Inf., the 2nd round draft pick for the Mets in 2012.  Last season, Matt played in the White Sox organization: 5 Hrs, 35 RBIs, 83 hits, 51 walks, 93 Ks, .269/.373/.365 - .768 OPS. He will turn 31 tomorrow, December 3.  Welcome back Matt,

Nick Dini, C, played last year in th Kansas City Organization.  He did not get a lot of playing time - just 26 games as he backed up the Royals #4 Prospect, MJ Melendez (41 HRs last year in AA/AAA) and also spent some time on the DL. In AAA last year he hit 4 HRs, 16 RBIs, .303/.357/494 - .852 OPS.  He is a NJ native and went to Wagner College.  He did see some MLB action in 2019.  He is currently listed on the Syracuse Mets Roster.

Rob Zastryzny, LHP, pitched last year for the Long Island Ducks and was later picked up by the Miami Marlins.  He went 3-0, 3.56 ERA, 25 games - 1 start, 2 Saves, 30.1 innings, 29 hits, 7 HRs, 15 walks, 44 Ks.  He is listed on the Syracuse roster as well.

Nice. I wonder if Matt is the kind of guy the Mets see as being a future coach or manager, to bring him back at age 31.

That could be. He may also be a replacement for Drew Jackson in Syracuse who could play both infield and outfield.

Boy, I did not realize Reynolds has had so few MLB ABs since 2017. I wonder if he'll get any with the Mets.

If he does, it will mean they had injury issues again next year. Here's hoping he does not.

John, Methinks our readers have been locked out? No one is posting today. It must be a December 2 thing.

Rob Zastryzny is destined to lead the league in letters beyond "X". :)
