Future Mets Prospect - Douglas Orellana
Douglas Orellana is a 20-year old right handed relief pitcher who currently plays for the St. Lucie Mets. He was signed in 2020 by the Mets as an International prospect, out of Venezuela.
HIs Mets career started slow:
-two DSL-Mets teams in 2021, combining for 17-apps, 2-2, 8.05
-in 2022, he 11-G, 6-ST for the FCL Mets (3.96), striking out 55 batters in 36.1 innings. The 55-Ks led the league that year.
He closed 2022 with St. Lucie, with three appearances.
This season, he has been basically close to perfect, posting a 1.50 ERA and striking out 12 batters in 12 innings pitched.
There seems to be a tremendous upside here and my hope is we see him end this season pitching in Brooklyn.

Another O, LAYONEL OVALLES, is off to a nice start in 2023, too.
