Nick Morabito is getting it D..O..N..E
Nick Morabito was the 75th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Lofty.
His 2022 small pro debut sample was not pretty…2 for 22, 14 Ks.
Visions of busted picks danced in my head.
But….small samples can be deceiving.
Onward to 2023 for the recently turned 20 year old outfielder.
He started out in the FCL going 10 for 51, no HRs, 4 RBIs.
So, I’m thinking at the time…12 for 73 to start his career? Uh oh.
But…small samples can be deceiving.
On June 27, entering the game at .196, Nick picked up a hit.
On June 28, a hit and RBI.
On June 30, 2 hits and an RBI.
OK, the Morabito Express was now fired up and cleared for take off.
JULY? BLAST OFF!
22 for 46, 11 RBIs.
Do the July math… .478/.529/.696.
Wow.
Don’t tell me that’s a small sample. No way.
After all…
I now fully and logically expect Nick to be the majors’ first .478 career hitter when all is said and done in about 20 years.
That said… back to reality…
Promote Nick to St Lucie immediately is my advice. Man vs. boys.

LOLLLLLLLL, and you think that three weeks in July is NOT a small sample? On the plus side, 4-5 last night with a double and a homerun, drive in three runs as the lead off man, up to .336 for the season.
I would say it’s fair to say 90% of the followers of this organization groaned at the early results. Let’s hope the young man can keep it up. He has actually out performed Jett Williams, who also had a very slow start. But, while Williams plays everywhere, Morabito has played CF only.

Take a look at Rhylan Thomas at Brooklyn. Tell me what you think. Recently promoted and now hitting 0347. Do you think he can continue doing well at that level. Maybe a new prospect to follow?
Gus, I get into Hall of Fame projections simply when a guy goes 4 for 5.
Raw, Thomas’ stats tell me he hits well, has little speed, little over and is 23 in High A. Maybe the speed can’t.316 with low Ks this year. be upped, but the power has to.And ata listed 5’10”, 170, he has to show me more. But you can’t argue with him hitting He’d almost comp to Jeff McNeil, but lesspeed, smaller, and Jeff is playing IF, primarily, where less power can work better.
I’d rank him informally at most as their 40th prospect right now.
My overall understanding talking to Mets people is that Morabito is one of those prospects who probably would have been in GCL/Kingsport but was pushed to what is now FCL. He was a project and he's starting to put it together which is great.
Gus, Jett is showing very strong trajectory. Hopefully he will not need a coach to become first class.
Ernest, and how. So, in your view, is FCL about equivalent to the former NYPL in difficulty?

If what I am reading is accurate ,then all of our 2023 MLB draftees that were going to sign had to do so by July 25. Not signed were:
Round 12-Pick 366- Brady Kirtner-RHP-4th Year Jr.
Round 18-Pick 546- Gavyn Jones LHP-HS Senior
Round 19-Pick 576- Chtistian Lttle- RHP 4th Year Jr.
Little had stated after the draft he intended to return to LSU
I think competition overall is forever changed. I don't like using terms such as "filler" but there's less room for players now on all rosters. "Kids" as bats are now facing 95+ MPH in FCL and even DSL. Time is now for kids to start getting repeated a level no matter their tools or signing bonus as needed
DJ, to not sign rounds 12, 18, and 19 isn’t bad. I just wonder if theMets used all the available dough.

Spotrac's draft review said the Mets went over their allotment by $404,450 and will pay a tax of $303,338 since they exceeded their allotment by 4.79 %.
Don't know how accurate this is,but that was what was reported.
