Right-hander Luis Severino, who did some fine workhorse work for the Mets in 2024, got rewarded with a 3 year deal worth $67 million, with an opt-out after 2026. Congratulations, Luis.
Significant loss for the Queens team, but a departure that was expected by most.

My thought is that there seems to be a lot of stupid money thrown at pitching this year.
A 3.91 ERA = $67 million in 2024 off season baseball.

I am guessing that Boras wants teams at the winter meetings feeling desperate, to drive Soto's price even higher. How much of a % of the $$ does Boras get, as his agent?
This was an internet note on Boras from 2 years ago: Boras ranks as the most powerful agent in North American team sports, with $3.83 billion in active playing contracts under management, yielding up to $191 million in commissions based on the maximum 5% fee that MLB agents are allowed to charge.
Would have liked to see Sevy back because he ate a lot of innings for the Mets. Would not have liked to see it cost $67M for that though, so good luck Oakland/Las Vegas.
