Griffin Canning looked absolutely nasty today as he struck out 9 in 4.2 IP
Canning
went heavy on the sliders and cutters today and generated a ton of whiffs. He
dialed back on the fastballs and looks to be an effective rotation piece for
the Mets to start the season

The Mets
pitching lab is cooking again!
Canning
struck out NINE Rays batters—over half the batters he faced—this afternoon! His
slider is actually two pitches in one (a death ball and a slider) paired with a
GREAT changeup.
The Mets
rotation might be sneaky good this season!
Canning was, well, electric yesterday.
Spring stats now come in at: 3-games, 1-1, 0.90, 0.80, 10-IP, 16-K.
Judging on how desperate the Mets were a few weeks ago to put together an
opening day rotation, I assume this guy will head to Queens at the end of next
week.
Canning is only 29 and is under only a one-year contract.
So, for me, the locks for the opening day rotation are Clay Holmes, David Peterson,
Tylor Megill, and Canning. Kodai Senga is still a favorite here, but I would feel a whole lot
better if he puts up around six innings in his next spring outing.
You?

I believe Canning will be the 2025 under-the-radar signing of the year. Like Manaea last year, by September a lot of people will be glad they got this guy.
I agree
Has looked very good so far. As I've said many times, I would gladly eat crow as long as they help the team.
I think I will wait until midseason before I actually admit I was wwwwrong...lol.
