The New York Mets have traded RP Luke Weaver to the Pittsburgh Pirates for SS Sammy Stafura.

MLB,com has him rated as #9 Pirate's prospect. not exactly #1, but not 32, really strong stats for this year.
Stearns needs to be fired. The best reliever available with an additional year of control and he trades it for a player years away from the ML. He has not even reach double A. Does he have any idea just how many players fail in double A that never make it to the ML?.
Keep him away from Coney
Trade with Cubs- Taylor and Holmes to Cubs. Sent to New York: INF prospect Jefferson Rojas (Cubs' No. 2 prospect, ranked 63rd
The best prospect acquired thus far.
A good day for Stearns and the Mets.
Meet the NEW York Mets. Like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
A frustratingly bad trade. I like Stafura, but they needed more for Weaver. On top of the light return, they're paying Pittsburgh $7.5 million next year too. Brutal.
The Weaver deal to me is baffling. Really baffling.
I think where Stafura had played, Greensboro, is a hitter’s paradise. 13 of his 20 homers were at home. So his long ball stats may be inflated.
I think as the day wore on, Stearns became infatuated with loading up on prospects, and the higher their ranking, the more he was willing to give. Weaver is a tough blow, but with what was left in the pen, not many controllable games would get to him and Williams anyways.
