Bisons Game Notes

TODAY’S GAME:

Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a two-game set from McCoy Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons are looking for the split as the Red Sox were 3-2 winners last night. Buffalo is now 2-3 on their season-long nine-game roadtrip. Buffalo plays three games in Rochester, August 28-30 before returning to Coca-Cola Field for the final four home games of the season, August 31 - September 3.

vs. THE PAW SOX:

Tonight, the Bisons face the PawSox for the final time this season. Buffalo needs a win tonight to split the season series (7-8). The Bisons have won five of the last seven games between the teams, including a two-game sweep in Pawtucket, July 9-10 and a 3-1 series win in Buffalo, July 28-31.

THE INSIDER ON SNYDER:

Starting tonight is RHP Kyle Snyder, who is 2-1 with a 2.53ERA in his last four outings. The veteran has allowed just six runs while striking out 14 batters in his last four starts (21.1IP). In four games against the Red Sox this season, Snyder has posted a 2.70ERA while giving up five runs in 13.1 innings with 14 strikeouts.

MOUND WORK:

Bisons starting pitchers have been dominating of late. In the team’s last nine games, the rotation has combined to post a 1.95ERA. Herd starters have allowed just 11 runs in 50.2 innings and nearly have as many strikeouts (41) as hits allowed (44). The quality work has lowered the team’s season ERA from 4.07 to 3.92 (9th best in International League).

THE HIT-MAN:

OF Jesus Feliciano is now tied for the IL lead in hits (137) with Gwinnett’s Barbaro Cannizares. The outfielder went 1-for-3 last night with a walk. Feliciano’s .306 batting average is tied for 6th-best in the IL. The outfielder has 39 more hits than any of his teammates (INF Mike Lamb, 98) and also leads the Bisons in runs (51), doubles (29) and stolen bases (12)

BISONS BITS:

C Robinson Cancel has hit .400 (14-35) in 12 games in August. The catcher had a double and a triple last night...INF Mike Lamb has averaged .327 (32-98) with runners in scoring position. He leads the team with 46RBI on the season...RHP Jim Ed Warden has struck out 19 batters in only 12.2 innings with the Herd.
