44. Gabriel Zavala – RP
According to mlb.com, Zavala started out with the Mets as an international undrafted free agent in 2004. He also was a full time position player, and his last name was originally Zabala, not Zavala. Other than that, everything’s pretty routine.
All stats prior to 2008 reflect his hitting.
In 2009, he pitched for the GCL Mets and did fairly well: 11-G, 6-starts, 2-3, 3.38.
11-30-10: Zavala, or Zabala, or whoever the hell he is, is quietly becoming a very successful relief pitcher for the Savannah Sand Gnats. He added three more scoreless innings last night, with six strikeouts and no walks. Yearly stats are now: 9-G, 0.43, 1-ER in 21,.0-IP. Zavala has already turned 23 and needs to get on the bus, Gus.
In 2010, Zavala had an outstanding year for Savannah with stats of: - 1-1, 1.56, 20-games, 38-K, 34.2-IP
9-15-10: - 2011 Forecast: - I'm hoping tot alk with Zavala during the off-season and figure out whey http://www.milb.com/ listed his hitting prowess for two years, and now, he's a pitcher. Anyway, he has earned a bump up to St. Lucie, which will come in the spring.
