Dylan Owen, who spent time in starting and relief roles in the Mets' farm system in 2010, made his case as a starter Sunday with seven no-hit innings for Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League.
Owen struck out three and walked two in only his third appearance for the Criollos, who no-hit the visiting Gigantes de Carolina in a 5-0 shutout.
The right-handed prospect was named MLB.com's Short-Season Starting Pitcher of the Year in 2007 while with the Brooklyn Cyclones in the New York-Penn League. He started off his 2010 campaign in the Minors with five no-hit innings en route to the Double-A Binghamton Mets' 5-1 victory over the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians) on April 9.
